How to create and edit a new Calendar on iPhone, iPad or Mac

If you are an organized person, it is quite likely that you use the corresponding applications on your smartphone, digital tablet or computer to organize the appointments and events that you have in your day-to-day life. And in case you use an iPhone, an iPad or a Mac, it is very likely that that app is Calendar .

In fact, one of the main advantages of this application is its ease of use, so that we can use it easily, simply and simply, without having to have experience or be experts with it.

What’s more, its possibilities go much further, since, thanks to the so-called Apple ecosystem , it allows us to have our calendars (and events) on any Apple device, since they are synchronized with each other in the background, as long as we access to our account from the same Apple ID.

But one of the possibly most useful and interesting advantages is found in the function of creating calendars individually , so that we do not have to have a single calendar for personal and work events. On the contrary, we can create one for work, another for personal matters, another for the family … and, ultimately, any other calendar we need.

Creating a new calendar on iPhone, iPad or Mac

The process for creating a new calendar within the Calendar app is actually very simple, although the steps differ slightly depending on whether you are using the app on an iPhone (or iPad), or on a Mac.

On iPhone or iPad

To do it on an iPhone or iPad (that is, on any iOS device), you must open the Calendar app . Then, we must click on the Calendars button that you will find at the bottom of the screen, in red. When you click on it, a new window will appear where all our calendars will be displayed.

To create a new one, click on Add calendar , and then we enter the name we want to give it, which Account we want to synchronize it with (for example, iCloud or Gmail), and, finally, select a color to be able to differentiate it and identify it with the rest. Clever!

On Mac

In macOS the process is a little different. We only need to open the Calendar application , which you will possibly find in the Dock, and then click on File (which you will find located in the menu bar that appears at the top of the screen) and New calendar .

We now choose the Account that we want to use and synchronize with said calendar, and then we choose an identifying name and a color. From that moment on we can also use our new calendar on Mac.

How to easily edit a calendar

Once created, it is extremely easy to edit them when necessary. In macOS, for example, all you have to do is press the right mouse button when we are on top of the calendar that we want to modify, and choose some of the options that appear (such as Get information ). In fact, it will be in this section where you can change some elements, such as the name of the calendar or the identifying color.

In iOS we must reopen the Calendar app and press the Calendars button. Then we place ourselves on the calendar that we would like to edit and simply click on the ‘i’ icon that we will find located to the right of the name. In the new window we can modify the name, choose with whom to share it or the color.
