WhatsApp added some time ago the possibility of deleting a recently sent message not only for us but also for the person who received it (with the added problem that we only have one hour, eight minutes and 16 seconds to do it), not leaving proof of your shipment except for the label ‘This message has been deleted’.
But other instant messaging services, such as Telegram , offer a longer period of time, with the added advantage that it allows us to edit a text message already sent previously ; this time we will have a time of 2 days from the moment of shipment.
While, in the case of social networks, it is true that for a long time we have found the option of editing a previously sent post or message , with the consequent ‘change history’. This is what happens, for example, with Facebook .
However, if you use Twitter regularly, it is very likely that at some point or other you have missed a similar functionality, since in case of error the only solution to modify an already published tweet was to delete it and send it again (corrected that yes ) again.
Luckily, it seems that the company is considering the possibility of integrating a useful function not only to correct a certain tweet in a short space of time , modifying the text sent, but even the functionality would go much further, since it would offer us the ability to delete it .
This is how we have been able to verify it from the hands of Jane Manchun Wong, who has a recognized and solid history in presenting new functions on the different social media platforms, when she published a tweet with a GIF animation in which a timer was observed countdown within which offered the ability to edit the tweet already sent.
It is true that we are not facing a completely complete functionality, especially if we pay attention to many of the requests made over the years by most of the users who use the platform every day, but taking into account how rigid the company has been in Regarding the ability to edit tweets already sent (except to delete them), it is evident that this is a great step, which is going in the right direction .
At the moment we do know that it is characterized by being a feature that the company is working on (confirmed by Twitter itself to a query made by AFP), so we would still have to wait a bit.
While this new functionality arrives, what other options do we have?
As we have mentioned, for now it is a functionality that Twitter would be working on, which means that, at least for the moment, it has not yet been launched. Meanwhile, it is normal that you wonder how it is possible to edit an already published tweet .
Obviously, a simple option is to copy the tweet sent, delete the wrong one and post it again, corrected .
To do so, you just have to go to your Twitter profile, find the tweet that you originally want to modify. Once on it, copy the text of the tweet. If you are on the desktop, click on the icon with three horizontal dots that you will find in the upper right, which will open a context menu with the Delete button. Once pressed, the tweet will be deleted.
In case you are doing it through the app, you just have to stand on top of the tweet to be modified and copy the text. Then, press and hold your finger on it until the corresponding menu appears, or click on the same icon with three horizontal dots . Regardless of whether you use one option or another, finally click on the Delete tweet option.
Finally, copy the text of the original tweet, correct it and post it again.
As we can see, although at the moment it is the only option available, it is foreseeable that very soon we will finally be able to use the new functionality. At the time.
