Available for a few years now, the iCloud Keychain feature became an attempt by Apple to make password management and other important personal data available at a basic level, securely and easily at all times. .
It is a feature that began to be available from iOS 7, and that keeps the user names of the accounts, passwords and even the bank card numbers stored in the cloud, behind the 256-bit AES encryption on the iCloud servers of the company.
Then, this data can be easily and quickly synchronized between the different authorized devices, for which it will be necessary and essential to access from the Apple device with the same ID (that is, with the same Apple ID).
In this way, with the iCloud Keychain it is possible to store our most important information on multiple Apple devices and in a really safe way , as well as simple and simple. Thus, it is possible that this information is synchronized between the iPhone, iPad and Mac.
How to enable iCloud Keychain on iPhone and Mac?
The process on both devices is really straightforward and simple. On our iPhone we must access Settings from the home screen, click on our profile (where our name appears), and click on iCloud .
Now click on the Keychain section and, if it is not enabled (the No label will appear on the right side), we will have to click on it. Next, we slide the switch to activate it. After a few seconds, iCloud Keychain will have been activated.
Thus, when returning to the previous screen, in the section where it said No, it should now appear Yes .
On macOS the process is just as easy. You must click on the Apple icon , which you will find in the upper left part of the screen, and then click on the System Preferences button.
Now click on the Apple ID button and slide along the new window, where we will have to select the Keychain section , to proceed to activate it.
How to disable iCloud Keychain?
The process to follow is absolutely the same as we have followed to activate iCloud Keychain, but in reverse. That is, on iPhone or iPad, we must go to Settings , click again on our profile and then on iCloud .
Now, we simply click on Keychain (where Yes will appear, which will confirm that it is activated), and simply slide the switch so that it remains gray (which will be a sign that we have disabled it).
In macOS, however, we must access System Preferences , then click on Apple ID and, finally, uncheck the box corresponding to Keychain .
In this way, we will have our iCloud Keychain enabled or disabled depending on what we want to do at all times.
