Despite having become a real fiasco after the success of Windows XP , the truth is that there are still users who are encouraged to continue using Windows Vista on their computers. And not only that, they also choose to install it, sometimes because they have the installation disc, or because they simply love how this operating system works.
As you probably know, especially if you are an experienced user in the use of any Windows OS, although an original product key is not necessary to use the operating system, it is always advisable to have a purchased and activated original key, especially at the Time to avoid annoying activation pop-ups that tend to appear every two to three.
In case you don’t have a valid product key, all these windows can be easily bypassed, at least for a while. And is that Windows Vista allows to extend an activation grace period for 120 days , in such a way that, with a minimum and small adjustment, it is feasible to renew the activation of the operating system.
How to easily reactivate Windows Vista
If Windows Vista is stuck on the wake-up timer, when you turn on your computer and activate the operating system, select Access your computer with reduced functionality . Now open Internet Explore, then File and finally Open. Type ‘C: Windows Explorer.exe’ in the address bar, and click OK. It will be necessary to indicate that we wish to execute it when requested.
We now proceed to open the command prompt as administrator . An easy option to do this is by opening the Start menu, right-clicking Command Prompt, and selecting Run as administrator . Or, well, in the Start menu, type ‘cmd’ and then press the Ctrl + Shift + Enter keys.
Now we must type ‘slmgr -rearm’, and press Enter. This will add an additional 30 days to the activation timer. However, it may take a few seconds for the confirmation to appear. Then we must restart the computer. The new 30-day extension will be activated immediately.
After 30 days, it is possible to run the command again . Although, be careful, since it is possible to repeat this command for three times, in such a way that a total extension of grace of 120 days will be reached, something that is allowed within the terms of Microsoft’s EULA.
Of course, if you want to find out the remaining time until the next activation, you just have to open the command prompt as administrator and type ‘slmgr -xpr’. In a few seconds a notification will appear with the remaining time.
