We do not need to explain why. There may be many but it is certainly likely that, at some point, we may need to read or even reply to a WhatsApp message without appearing connected or online. Maybe it is about a contact who is waiting for the response to his message sent a few hours ago, but we do not intend to reply because we do not want to start a long conversation because we do not have time? It could be one of the explanations. Is this possible to do?
For some time now, WhatsApp has been updated with a good handful of new features in recent years and one of the most important is probably the function of receiving and reading messages.
It is precisely what makes the read message or messages (double sticky ) turn blue once the recipient has read it. Although many of us may not have any problem activating this optional feature in WhatsApp, there are times when we do not want others or the sender to know that we have already read their message, it is clear.
To achieve this, one of the easiest options is to go to the settings within the application and deactivate this particular function. Unfortunately, if we ‘unplug’ it, it will also be disabled for everyone and will not let us know if the other person has read our text messages or not. Is there an alternative to not having to disable this feature but to prevent messages from being marked as read even after being read?
There is a way (or even several) to avoid this type of situation to prevent your friends or whoever, from bothering you at a time that you do not want.
How to read messages secretly
Viewing messages through the notification panel
If you use an Android mobile, you can read WhatsApp messages directly through the notification panel by sliding the notification down. Doing this will expand and reveal all the stacked messages from a particular conversation.
Using airplane mode
If a message arrives and you activate airplane mode, you can open the application and read the message. Once this is done, remove WhatsApp from the list of recent applications and close it in application settings by clicking “Force stop”, this will prevent the app from synchronizing in the background once you deactivate Airplane mode. As a result, the messages you just opened won’t be marked as read until you reopen the app.
Reading messages through pop-up windows
Pop-ups also serve the same purpose. When they are activated, we will get a small preview of the message that we have just received at the top of the screen, regardless of the application in which we are at that moment. How are these pop-up notifications activated? Whatsapp → Settings → Popup notification → Personalization.
Reading messages through Widget
Many may not be aware that WhatsApp also offers a widget where we can preview our unread conversations. To do so, you have to go to widgets, scroll down and drag the WhatsApp 4 x 2 widget to the home screen. In this way, you may not be able to read all the text if it is huge, but for short messages it is a very easy and convenient way to get a quick view of WhatsApp messages directly on the home screen of our smartphone. .
