How to find someone on the internet

If you are looking for a family member or friend with whom you have not had contact for a long time, you should start looking online, if you have not already done so. Today more than half of the world’s population uses the networks, so it is quite likely that that person is on a social platform.

However, before starting the search we must be clear that some people prefer not to know about us, and that they are within their rights. Therefore, we must never use social networks to harass a person.

Our first search can begin on Twitter and Facebook. They are the most popular social networks worldwide and the ones that reveal the most details about someone’s life. Thanks to Facebook, for example, we can see the profile photo of a person (as long as they do not have it in private mode) or know the country or city in which they currently reside.

Search on social networks

If you are looking for a person’s profile on Facebook, you’d better put their name in the Google search engine. Google can sometimes be more effective than Facebook’s internal search, especially if you also add a location to your search.

If the normal Google search does not show anything interesting, you could click on the images tab. If you know that person’s face, you may find it easier to find them by looking at a photograph. Also, when you’re done searching by names, you should try other options like phone numbers or email addresses.

However, Twitter and Facebook allow you to modify the privacy of your account to prevent people from being able to find you through your associated phone number or email address.

Friends of friends

If you are not getting anywhere with searches, you will have to open the range of possibilities and think of a person that you have in common. This acquaintance could lead you directly to whoever you want, even if their profile is quite hidden.

Also, most of the content on Instagram and Twitter is usually public, so it wo n’t take you long to review the likes , tags, and followers of the person you’re both linked to.

It is also possible that the social network will show you a list of recommended users, so you would be closer to finding that person.
