Virtually all means of transport – whether land, water or air – require fuel to function properly. Their use is so ingrained in our daily lives that we even consider them basic services. Thanks to the irruption in the natural gas market – and its service stations, gas stations or gas stations – the impact of transport is less on the environment.
By gas station we understand any establishment that is dedicated – entirely or not – to the retail sale of fuel, generally petroleum derivatives. It is only the last link before the final product reaches the common public.
Gas stations, also known as gas stations, gas stations or Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) stations, are the result of a new revolution in the world of transportation. In them , fuel is normally sold in the form of gas: Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
Emissions natural gas are slightly lower than those emitted by the conventional fuel derived from petroleum. The latter, a great monopolist of the market in recent years, is losing hegemony; black gold is giving way to natural gas.
The extraction and storage process (liquefaction or compression), in addition to reducing the volume of natural gas and compacting it, also facilitates the suppression of particles or heavy hydrocarbons, thus reducing the environmental impact that it could generate.
The fuel offered by gas stations is Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV), which is divided into two types:
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
Natural gas stored in a high pressure ambient temperature (between 200 and 500 bar). Its autonomy is relatively limited (between 300 and 500 kilometers), so its use is usually adjusted to urban routes or shorter journeys.
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)
Natural gas that has previously undergone a liquefaction process through which it is stored at temperatures down to -161 ° C. In this way, its volume is reduced approximately 600 times, a fact that facilitates all storage, transport and marketing processes. It has a considerably higher autonomy (between 800 and 1500 kilometers), a fact that explains its use on long-distance routes.
The growth of the gas station or gas station network bursts in with force, as its price is perfectly in line with the market. Natural Gas Vehicle service stations are a booming reality.
