The same sounds to you. You have to put money for a gift, for example 5 euros, but you do not see very often the friend who has paid it, and he asks you to make a transfer. To do this you have to ask for the account number, look for the keys of your bank, get into online banking … very complicated for a simple transfer of 5 euros.
New technologies and apps are making our lives much easier, and for these cases, initiatives like Bizum are quite useful. It is a very convenient solution for immediate payment via mobile: it is not necessary to know the recipient’s account number, just include their mobile phone number (or select their contact in the phonebook on our phone). It is a fast service, since in less than five seconds the money is in the recipient’s account ; and very secure: it is available in the mobile application of practically all Spanish banks and is based on the European standard for immediate payments.
Churriana residents try Bizum
In order to popularize mobile payment transactions, Bizum has launched an initiative that will take place from June 27 in the Churriana district of Malaga. In 1998, the residents of Churriana were chosen at European level to test the adaptation of the euro. 20 years later, the inhabitants of this town are going to show that the future of economic transactions will be through mobile phones regardless of age or type of life.
Starting today, neighbors will make daily payments between individuals via mobile: half-payment for meals, gifts, the cheer for World Cup matches, shared expenses for the apartment, payments to children, donations …
“In my shared apartment we use Bizum for all common expenses, shampoo, toilet paper, detergent, electricity, gas, Netflix, etc.”, explains Javier Gómez, a Churriana neighbor and former Google Poland worker. “In addition, in my group of friends, we have also made the cheer for the World Cup in Russia through Bizum.”
The same neighbors who carried out the Euro experiment show 20 years later that they are still pioneers and that it is not necessary to carry cash to carry out all payment transactions between people using Bizum. Rosa Mari is retired, and lived just 20 years ago the Euro experiment in the town. “I never saw Churriana more beautiful than when we were the first to experience the Euro. Now we are once again proud to have been chosen again. “
