Now, a team of scientists from the Intelligent Energy company has managed to create a battery capable of lasting up to a week.
Experts have used an iPhone 6 to create their prototype of a durable battery in which hydrogen is one of the main elements of its composition . Thus, to the original lithium-ion battery of the smartphone, a special hydrogen cell has been added that has small ventilation holes through which water vapor is released.
This innovative system that generates energy by combining hydrogen and oxygen – and emitting imperceptible amounts of heat and water – manages to increase the useful life of the smartphone battery a few more days with a much smaller size than current hydrogen fuel cells. In addition, the gas in this battery can be recharged with an adapter of the terminal , as when we charge a mobile in the traditional way on the electrical network.
At the moment, the company has exclusively presented a prototype, for which the device’s casing had to be slightly modified . The next thing will be to get enough financial funds to launch a commercial version that will probably be a success in the market.
