This is pure black

Esto sí es negro puro Coal and oil pale in the face of the new black material just created by a team of American researchers. It is a substance made from tiny nanotubes that absorbs more than 99.9% of the light it receives, and is 30 times darker than the reference currently used by the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology for color black. As if this were not enough, the new material has a reflection index of 0.045%, while in an ink or a basic black paint for domestic use this index ranges between 5 and 10%.

In addition to requesting its inclusion in the Guinness Book of Records , its creator, researcher Pulickel Ajayan of Rice University (Houston, United States), has big plans for the new material. On the one hand, given its ability to absorb practically all the light it receives, it could be useful in obtaining and storing solar energy . Furthermore, this same property could be used for the construction of better telescopes for astronomical observation.
