Actually, Donald Trump wanted to congratulate the USA on “Memorial Day”. The result is something completely different.
Palm Beach – The US celebrates Memorial Day on the last Monday in May. On the nationwide holiday, the people are supposed to commemorate the fallen in the country who lost their lives in the war. Donald Trump presumably wants that too, but the elected President of the United States seems to have taken a wrong turn in his mind once again.
The former US President posted a message on Memorial Day on his website donaldjtrump.com. The website has become Donald Trump’s only remaining communication tool after his lifelong ban on Twitter. “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” is the heading and the desk is in his current residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. In contrast to the short message service, the elected US president can let his thoughts run free on his own website without fact checking and character restrictions. And he does.
Donald Trump: Confused greetings on Memorial Day in the USA
Because the citizens of the USA like to use Memorial Day as the start of the summer season, with a picnic, excursion and family time, Donald Trump calls it the “biggest automobile days of the year”. But the gasoline prices are so high that driving is hardly fun anymore. In Donald Trump’s eyes, this is due to his successor in office: Joe Biden. But if the Americans had trusted him and not Biden in the US election last year, gasoline prices would have remained as low as they were then. Donald Trump is quite sure of that, and he reminds his people of that.
“When you watch the gas meter go up, remember what a great job Donald Trump did as President […] You will all soon be saying how good it was to have me as your President. Wasn’t it great to be energy independent? But we are no longer. Shame, shame, shame. Something else: Happy Memorial Day. “
Donald Trump: Jimmy Kimmel names the real reason for the high fuel prices
What Donald Trump is currently saying is so confusing. It goes without saying that the reaction of the American comedians did not last long. Late-night presenter Jimmy Kimmel commented that the 45th US President probably forgot the reason why gasoline was so cheap last year: The corona pandemic made excursions of any kind impossible. But Donald doesn’t seem to remember that anymore. Since his defeat, and while criminal investigations are underway in New York, Trump is little more than “an old man who yells at the deaf”.
