Susana Ortiz, always connected with the environment

The leader of O2 Reserve, who has stood out for corporate responsibility and preservation of areas, represents new entrepreneurs who want to leave a positive footprint.

How was your passion for caring for the environment born?

We are a team of people aware of the actions we carry out and their impact on nature; We believe that each person can find a balance between their personal project and their relationship with the environment. That is why we seek with our way of acting to connect with others and allow ourselves to give back to nature a little of what we take from it.

How did O2 Reserve come about?

O2 Reserve was created in June 2019 with two partners who are passionate about nature and business. It was born with the purpose of preserving, protecting and managing areas that are at high risk of deforestation. We create strategies to conserve life, stop deforestation and increase biodiversity in areas that we directly protect. We are a channel between individuals, private companies and the State towards the conservation of natural ecosystems.

Is it possible to make a company aligned with environmental values?

Yes, it is possible to have companies aligned with the environment. You can always do more for sustainability and nature; a new process, efficient purchasing, analysis of the value chain, circular economy, product life, carbon footprint measurement, voluntary compensation and work with surrounding communities. The important thing is to start, to believe that our benefit must go beyond the economic, since the operation of our business in the future depends on our current decisions regarding the environment. If from the beginning the business is born with an environmental and social purpose, it will be easier to maintain the values and if it is an existing company the change can be made progressively.

What marketing strategies have you developed to ensure environmental sustainability in companies?

Companies structure their environmental sustainability goals so that they are viable over time, reviewing their supply chain, production, distribution and the handling that the customer gives to their product. Depending on these strategies, O2 Reserve supports the fulfillment of some according to their impact, focused on conservation, restoration, social impact on communities and carbon footprint measurement. We are beginning to work with the communities according to their abilities to manufacture handicraft products for some companies. All this materializes with benefits to nature, communities, customers and companies.

What message do you send so that people have as their first objective to implement businesses aligned with nature?

Follow the news of El Espectador on Google News

Human beings and, therefore, companies need nature to exist and she does not need us to do so; For this reason, it is of the utmost importance and now more than ever to think of nature as the central axis of companies. Our future and our decisions as consumers depend on their care, the time of availability of natural resources, for this reason it is important to decide on products and services that guarantee our existence.

With the #OneMeterMatters you brought together several brands for conservation, how did you do it?

We reach brands in different ways. Some people and companies have come through our social networks, through contacts we have, companies with which we already work that refer us and through the website. Given the novelty of the business, we have created a community of companies interested in expanding their benefits with nature and this has allowed us to connect with other sectors interested in participating.
