The Tax Administration Service (SAT) gave an extension of one month for the presentation of the 2020 annual declaration of natural persons, which originally must be presented from April 1 to 30 of each year.
The SAT published this Monday, in point 13.4, it refers “For the purposes of article 150, first paragraph of the Income Tax Law, individuals may file their annual return corresponding to the fiscal year 2020, no later than 31 December. May 2021 “.
For the extension to be valid, it must be published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF). The SAT confirmed the extension of the deadline in a statement.
The measure is to avoid crowds in the offices of the SAT, and that the majority of people present their annual declaration via digital, the authority reported in a statement.
To do this, it enabled a chatbot on or in the declarations portal, also the site and the SAT ID application for generating or updating the password and renewing the e.firma, when its expiration is less than one year.
Last year, the SAT also gave an extension for the pandemic, but this was two months, as the deadline was extended until June 30, 2020.
Last March, legal entities presented their annual tax return, reported failures in the SAT system, the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants (IMCP) requested an extension, but this was publicly denied by the head of the SAT, Raquel Buenrostro, despite to this, the presentation of this document increased 9% in the first quarter.
