An expensive piece: for over 25 years it stood in the kitchen of Jan Fedder’s farm. Now the kitchen clock brings in a good amount of money – and Michel from Hamburg can be happy.
Hamburg – A kitchen clock from the estate of the Hamburg actor Jan Fedder (1955 – 2019) with a picture of Michel was auctioned for 14,155 euros.
This money was offered by a donor who, however, would like to remain anonymous, announced the main church of St. Michaelis in Hamburg on Monday.
The clock, which, according to the widow Marion Fedder, had stood in the kitchen of her farm for more than 25 years, was part of a larger campaign in favor of the Hamburger Michel. As part of the “Hamburg in A (u) ction” auction series, 45 extraordinary items from celebrities, lifebuoys and moments went under the hammer.
In addition to Jan Fedder’s kitchen clock, the top items were extras roles in “Tatort” and “Notruf Hafenkante”, tickets for the tug ballet at the port birthday in 2022, a completely overhauled luxury clock and an exclusive church tour with a private organ concert in the Michel. A total of 46,500 euros was raised in this way.
The economic situation of the community had deteriorated dramatically after the pandemic caused the tourist income to collapse. Unlike other churches, the Michel lives only 15 percent from church taxes. Because of the lockdown and the corona rules, according to the information, around 50,000 euros per month were missing.
Last year, after the Michel’s emergency signal, around 2,300 donations and thus around 500,000 euros were received. This year around 1,000 donations had brought around 180,000 euros by the beginning of June. dpa
