The mother -and lawyer- of one of the 45 students from San Fernando (Cádiz) asylum in the known hotel Covid de Palma , has denounced the Balearic Government -chaired by the socialist Francina Armengol- for possible crimes of illegal detention and prevarication after the mega sprout that emerged in Mallorca .
In this sense, he points out that an “arbitrary and unjustified criterion” has been applied in the isolation of young people that responds to “a political and selective confinement”, he told Europa Press .
The mother and lawyer have stressed that there is no justification for considering close contact exclusively to those “who are on a field trip” or on an end-of-year trip . For this reason, it has been asked if they are not close contacts “the rest of people, including foreigners , who have been in the same places.”
Change of criteria
In addition, he explained that “by public health” they are the first to understand all the measures, “but when they are in the rooms next to the Covid hotel, the British who have been in the same places.” In this sense, he added that of the foreigners who were in the pool of the same hotel there is no evidence of close contact , “but they have evidence of close contact of the students who are on excursions.”
Regarding the situation, the complaining mother has indicated that they have changed the criteria between Sunday and Monday, since first they said that if they were negative in the PCR they could leave and “now they say that they give what they give in the PCR they go to be confined for ten days ». In this sense, he has also criticized that no official or authority of the Balearic Islands “notify anything by mail, everything is so and so says that he says.”
The students were supposed to return to San Fernando this Tuesday, but now, according to the news that the parents have, they must stay ten days in the Covid hotel, which they have indicated that they are in a somewhat chaotic situation because “there are so many who they are there that can not cope ».
The Government sees “little path”
For his part, the Vice President of the Government and Minister of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Juan Pedro Yllanes , has defended the management of the Director of Public Health, Maria Antònia Font , in relation to the ‘macro outbreak’ associated with student trips in Mallorca and has ensured that the complaint filed by the mother of an isolated minor by the Government at the Covid hotel in Palma will have “little travel” in the Courts.
This is how he has responded after questions from journalists about the complaint registered by the mother of a young man in court for prevarication and illegal detention. Yllanes has insisted that the Director of Public Health has acted based on the legislation in force in the Balearic Islands.
“It is difficult to speak of illegal detention when the rule approved as a result of the Covid has been scrupulously applied,” he remarked.
“The general director does not innovate anything, what she does is apply the law,” stressed the vice president of the Balearic Executive, while asserting: “I sincerely believe that it is a very bold complaint . The performance of the general director of Public Health has been impeccable.
