Yahoo! has sold the Delicious social bookmarking tool to YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, who plan to introduce the service at their new company AVOS. From Delicious they have clarified that they will not interrupt the service at any time, that user data will be protected and that the sale only means that the tool will continue to grow. On Yahoo! , for their part, they are asking users to enter the platform to accept the transfer of bookmarks to the new owner.
Delicious is a “social linking” service that has been online since 2003, and was acquired by Yahoo! in 2005.
On April 21, Yahoo! it suspended the services of news aggregator Buzz after three years of operation. Buzz had not been as successful as other competing services such as Digg or Menéame. After the announcement, many fear that the firm led by Carol Bartz will get rid of more services.
