At least eight people have died and 23 have been injured in the US state of Texas as a result of a human tide during the first night of the Astroworld Festival macro music festival, at the NRG Park sports and leisure complex in the city of Houston.

According to the first investigations, the incident took place during one of the first concerts of the night, the one starring the rapper Travis Scott, when a crowd of people gathered in front of the stage and “began to crush the people who were in the front row ”, as explained by the Houston Fire Chief, Samuel Peña.

At the moment there is evidence of at least 23 hospitalized among the 300 people who received immediate help at the medical care center installed in the area of the tragedy. Eleven of the injured, according to Peña, were evacuated to the hospital in a state of cardiorespiratory arrest.

One of the injured in critical condition is a 10-year-old boy , according to the fire marshal.

All the festival events scheduled for this Saturday have been canceled, the organizers have informed the local chain KHOU11.
