Workers of the Aeromar company held a protest at Terminal 2 of the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) due to the non-payment of wages, and they maintained their strike location for next October 14.
The pilots and flight attendants of the airline carried banners with legends in which they expressed their demands for payment, which, according to the Trade Union Association of Aviator Pilots of Mexico, (ASPA), amounts to almost 100 million pesos.
“The pilots have sought negotiation, even extending the strike five times; however, Zvi Katz refuses to keep his word in every negotiation. Aeromar and ASPA pilots are no longer willing to give any more concessions to this businessman who has only stolen from his workers. We demand the full payment of salaries and retribution of the pending debt,” said Humberto Gual Ángeles, Secretary General of the Trade Union Association of Aviator Pilots of Mexico, (ASPA), quoted in a statement.
The general secretary of the Union Association of Aviation Flight Attendants of Mexico (ASSA), Ricardo del Valle, reported through Twitter about the support they are giving to this protest by Aeromar workers due to the labor debts they have.
Likewise, it demanded the intervention of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, the Ministry of the Interior, as well as the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation.
They accuse non-compliance
The ASPA secretary assured that the owner of Aeromar has failed to comply with what was promised in previous negotiations.
“During the rally we stated that the company did not pay the savings fund that belongs to the pilots and that amounts to 12 million pesos, instead, the businessman offered 500,000 pesos to be distributed among the 88 colleagues who make up the staff. of the airline, in addition to continuing to deposit salaries and food vouchers in installments,” he said in the document.
In addition, he recalled the negotiations that were reached due to the drop in demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The workers have practically financed Aeromar’s operation since 2020 and the owner has not invested a single peso or looked for alternatives to strengthen the airline,” he stressed.
