The accident occurred on Friday in front of a daycare center. The 30-year-old drove his car into a group of schoolchildren on the sidewalk. An eight-year-old girl was seriously injured in the collision, and the child succumbed to serious injuries in the hospital a few hours later. Two other girls, aged seven and eight, were seriously injured in the accident, a police spokesman had confirmed on Saturday.
On Saturday, a police spokesman had declared that it was going to be an accident. There were no indications of intent at this point in time. As the spokesman had further explained on Saturday, a blood sample had been taken from the 30-year-old. The results had not yet been evaluated at this point in time.
