Facebook’s instant messaging application, WhatsApp, has completely changed the way we communicate from a few years ago. In addition to certain new features, we have been able to enjoy an improved interface that have made it the majority preferred option to keep in touch with others.
These are some of the features that are expected to become part of this application in the next year :
Dark mode
The dark mode or night mode is perhaps the most anticipated feature of WhatsApp for several months. It is an ideal mode for low light that has already gone through beta version and testing. It will allow users to have a darker theme in the app , which will reduce eye strain in low light conditions. And why not say it, it will also help us save battery, since it will reduce its consumption. Apparently, the dark mode will turn the background to black and the text to white.
WhatsApp for iPad
We can access WhatsApp on the desktop, on Android and on iPhone, but it was still incompatible with iPad. According to WaBetaInfo, this problem will soon end for iPad users as the company is working on WhatsApp support for iPad. There is nothing officially announced in this context, but said website suggests they are developing it and that they could launch it soon. WhatsApp for iPad will have exactly the same features as the main application, but still be compatible with the iPad user interface.
Messages that self-destruct
Another feature that users have been demanding for a long time. It is the ability to create messages that will be automatically deleted after a short period of time for the sake of privacy. How many times have we regretted the messages or photos sent? Thanks to the new functionality the message will self-destruct in … an hour, a day, a week, a month or a year. While many rival messaging apps already offer this feature, WhatsApp had yet to integrate it. You can program the self-destruction of everything you say within the groups of the application if you wish.
Security face unlock
WhatsApp released some security features for the app, including the fingerprint scanner. Apparently they might launch another security feature in 2020, the face unlock feature that would work similarly to the face security mode on our phones. However, many details about this feature are not yet known.
Contact blocked notice
This update will give users one-touch access to unblock the contact they have blocked. When the user enables the “Contact Blocked Notice” function in the application, every time they block a contact, WhatsApp will show a bubble in the chat window that will give one-touch access to unblock the contact. The chat application will display a similar message when users want to unblock a contact. The feature is in the works and is expected to arrive in 2020.
Advertisements
Finally the advertising reaches WhatsApp. At the 2019 Facebook Marketing Summit in the Netherlands, the company offered a slideshow demonstrating how it intends to work with ads on WhatsApp. They intend to start introducing them in status posts and with full-screen promotions that will appear between updates from our contacts.
Internal search engine for images
With this function we will be able to search among the images that we have received within a chat or a WhatsApp group without having to exit the application. As it did at the time with GIFs.
