NRW – Actually, everything started quite harmlessly. In Dortmund’s Kreuzviertel, benches were placed in many places as part of the “Every Street a Bench” program. In one specific case, what was intended to encourage exhausted passers-by to linger was met with severe criticism from a local resident. Now the problem has apparently resolved itself – a bench “guerrilla” in Dortmund has now redesigned the bench, RUHR24 knows.
The city of Dortmund recently exchanged the controversial seating for a significantly less inviting model. The new bench included center armrests, so nobody could sit comfortably on it horizontally. On the other hand, strangers took action.
