It had been a long time since Apple announced a spring event , so it was to be expected that the one that the company with the bitten apple held yesterday afternoon, April 20, 2021, was going to bring quite a lot of news. And, as it seems at first, it has indeed been.
Not surprisingly, the first event of 2020 in which Apple introduced new versions of devices was in September 2020, while a few months before, in June 2020, it mainly announced changes and improvements related to its operating systems.
But, what have been all the novelties presented yesterday? Although you can discover everything on the official Apple website, then we know them one by one.
iPhone 12 purple
If you like the iPhone 12 , and you are also passionate about the color purple , there is no doubt that you may decide to get one as soon as it goes on sale next Friday, April 30 (it will be available for reservations from Friday 23).
And it is that although no news about the iPhone was expected at the event held yesterday, Apple has decided to add the violet color to its iPhone 12 , so that it will now be available for the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 (effectively, it does not include the Pro version).
This means that, like the other colors that we can no longer find on the iPhone 12, the aluminum sides will match the back of the device, with a nice purple color.
AirTags
We have already talked to you about AirTags on a previous occasion. And it is that they have been talking about them for quite some time, to the point where their original launch was expected for the middle of last year, but possibly the current coronavirus pandemic motivated their delay.
These are small trackers that work with a U1 chip and Bluetooth connectivity, which we can attach to any device or item that we want to find easily later.
They are IP67 water and dust resistant and would feature replaceable batteries using standard CR2032 button cells. Your prices? 35 euros for a unit and 119 euros for a pack of 4. In Mexico they will cost 749 pesos and 2499 pesos, respectively.
New Apple TV 4K
Although we might think that it is quite similar to the previous one, since it is still an Apple TV 4K , the reality is that Apple has decided to renew it inside. Specifically, the new model comes with an A12 Bionic processor , supports 120Hz output (as long as the TV supports it) and includes a new Siri Remote that, it seems, would be much easier to use.
It also includes a new color balance system that, with the help of the iPhone, would be useful when calibrating both the color and the video output.
Its price? 199 euros from April 30, although it will not be available until the second half of May.
iMacs completely new in design and performance
The iMac is one of the most popular and traditional Apple devices. And we are surely facing one of the most important products of the event: the presentation of the new 24-inch iMacs .
Why? Mainly because now they incorporate a new and renewed design , with an even more elegant and minimalist look (especially when compared to the previous version), with the bezels around the screen even smaller, without the Apple logo on the front. , and a thickness of just 11.5 millimeters .
But from an external point of view one of the aspects that has undoubtedly attracted the most attention is that, now, it would be available in silver, purple, pink, orange, green and blue , also including a Magic Mouse and a Magic Trackpad to game .
Regarding its technical characteristics, the new iMac comes with Apple’s M1 chip , which we already find in the 13-inch MacBook Pro, the MacBook Air and the Mac mini. In addition, it comes with a 24-inch 4.5K retina display , which would have been treated with an anti-reflective coating to improve readability.
New iPad Pro 2021
Apple has also introduced a new iPad Pro with M1 , although some experts expected it to be an M14X. However, the version with data connectivity now comes with 5G , and the front camera has been updated to a 12MP ultra-wide camera, with a new functionality called Center Stage that would follow the user around the room while we FaceTime with another person.
The 12.9-inch model incorporates a Liquid Retina XDR display with thousands of mini-LED backlights, thereby allowing for even brighter brightness, higher contrast, and full HDR support.
New premium subscriptions to Apple Podcasts
Although Apple does not charge a monthly fee for podcast subscriptions , it is now creating a new program that allows creators to create premium subscriptions to their podcasts , even offering them the ability to set their own price .
Thus, subscribers can get personalized premium content, or early access, and Apple would get 30% of the revenue (although this figure would drop to 15% the second year and beyond).
Other interesting news
IOS 14.5 is here
After the launch of several betas, Apple has decided to officially present iOS 14.5 , which apparently will arrive next week. It is characterized by being a certainly special version since it puts the center of focus on user privacy with the implementation of App Tracking Transparency , about which we have already spoken to you in other moments.
This implementation requires that apps must request the permission of users before tracking both their data and their activity for advertising purposes.
In addition, it also comes with another interesting novelty, since it will offer the possibility of unlocking the iPhone with the mask on , as well as new emojis (more inclusive) and the option to choose between a male or female voice for Siri.
Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro with a new color
