Chicago/Kassel – Winter always presents drivers with new challenges. Especially at extremely low temperatures, one or the other vehicle likes to go on strike. The driver of an electric car in the USA recently found himself in a particularly precarious position because his Tesla would not charge.
Desperate, the Chicago man turned to the internet after trying everything he could to get his Tesla Model S going. However, the “TeslaLounge” community on the “Reddit” internet platform sometimes gives him little useful advice.

The driver of the EV explained in his post that temperatures in Chicago had dropped to minus twenty degrees Fahrenheit (about minus 29 degrees Celsius) the previous night. A long commute to work and an unsuccessful attempt to charge at a supercharger station ultimately resulted in his Tesla sitting in his heated garage with a zero percent battery.

“If it’s that cold, you might want to let him sleep in the house on some old towels or sheets, just this once,” replies one user on reddit.com. The e-car owner responded with humor and asked if he should cuddle with his Tesla to motivate him to charge it.

Another user suspects that you only have to wait long enough for the vehicle to start charging. After all, it would take quite a while for the battery to warm up again if it had previously cooled down so much. The person seeking help then described that he had connected his electric car twelve hours before driving to a supercharger station. Finally, he had to call the tow truck to take his Tesla home because the battery was now completely empty.
In conclusion, however, there is still positive feedback from the Tesla owner. The loading efforts would have shown at least a little success. With the current battery status “and a little push” he is at least able to drive to the next gas station, the driver said on the internet platform reddit.
