In history books they are mostly invisible: black women. A Getty Images collection now features pictures of them – BuzzFeed News was allowed to use them.

Representation is an important issue in our diverse society. People of all skin colors should have a place in children’s books, in politics and in the media. However, black people did not have this for a long time. Racial segregation was still an issue in America in the 1950s – today Black people have the problem that they are not heard or seen. Getty Images wants to change that and is bringing out the “Black History & Culture Collection” (BHCC).
