A café is bombarded with negative reviews online. The trigger is the name: Café Mohrenkopf. The host is now defending himself against the criticism.

Ingolstadt – For some it is no longer up-to-date, for others it is an exaggerated reaction of today: A heated discussion recently broke out about the Café Mohrenkopf, located in the city center of Ingolstadt. The focus is on the host, who has now vented in an emotional Facebook post.

Discussions about Café Mohrenkopf: Shitstorm on Google

That’s what happened: Many users on the net were recently bothered by the name of the Ingolstadt café, “Mohrenkopf”. The criticism: The name is no longer up to date and racist. This was expressed by users on the Internet through negative reviews on Google, a popular protest measure on the Internet. A veritable shitstorm, as the bombardment with negative news and ratings is also called, developed, and the star rating of the café fell rapidly.

In the reviews, users wrote, for example, that the name was outdated, racist and didn’t belong in the 21st century. One user wrote: “The name of the café is super inappropriate and discriminatory”, another suspects a tactic: “Not only that the name of the restaurant is anything but contemporary, a post is shared on Facebook with, among other things, a chocolate kiss, the naturally attracts “thinking” people who express their frustration at the changing language awareness with the help of all clichés and insults. I’ll just let it stand that the owner of this site isn’t doing anything about it.”

Shitstorm against Café Mohrenkopf: host defends himself on Facebook

The host has now defended himself against the criticism from the internet on Facebook. Above all, he is concerned with protecting his employees. “The girls and boys here do a great job, tearing open their asses for the café and our guests, cleaning, cooking, serving, keeping the café running, and they’re all still in a good mood together. And this performance is badly rated by some who have NEVER been to the cafe because the name is inappropriate,” writes the operator.

The critics should rather target him and not his employees, the landlord adds. And then, to put it bluntly, in capital letters, he writes: “And for the umpteenth time: THE NAME STAYS!!!!”

Political discussion about Café Mohrenkopf: approval for the host

There are now many advocates of the controversial name on the Internet, who counter the negative reviews with positive ones. As with the criticism, it is rarely about the actual nature of the café and its service, but rather about the political dimension of the name. A user writes on Google, for example: “Please don’t give in to the hatred do-gooders who terrorize us!” “The name is a cult and must remain,” writes another.

The host’s Facebook post is also doing the rounds on the social network. The post garnered almost 170,000 likes, and in almost 30,000 comments, Facebook users mostly expressed their approval of the host’s words. ( fhz )
