San José – According to police, eight people were killed in the firearms attack in San José, California. As police representative Russell Davis announced on Wednesday, the alleged attacker was also killed himself. He was therefore an employee of the tram depot where the shots were fired.
“I can confirm that there are currently eight victims who have been pronounced dead,” Davis told journalists. “And there is a suspect who has been pronounced dead.” The number of deaths could still rise.
Davis also confirmed that the suspect was a tram depot employee. He did not initially provide any information on how the alleged attacker died.

Police and rescue workers came with a large contingent. “We are in close contact with the local police and are monitoring the situation,” wrote California Governor Gavin Newsom in the short message service Twitter. San José is south of San Francisco.
Deadly gun attacks are repeated in the United States. Pistols and rifles are common in the country. Attempts to tighten the very loose gun law have repeatedly failed. President Joe Biden, who is campaigning for reform, recently described gun violence in the country as a “plague”. (mse with afp)
