Celebrations can take place in Mallorca again

The seven-day incidence is lower in Mallorca than in Germany. Now parties should slowly be allowed again until late at night.

Palma – The nightlife in Mallorca is slowly picking up speed again. The nocturnal gathering ban has been lifted since midnight on Tuesday.

“At last,” says Ballermann singer Isabel Buder-Gülck and hopes that people will soon be able to dance again in discos, clubs and bars on the island.

In order to keep holidaymakers and party-mad locals from drinking bouts, the Balearic Government decided at the end of July that only people who live together are allowed to meet at night, both on the street and in private rooms. The measure last applied from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. “In my opinion, that was far too radical,” says Buder-Gülck.

Still many restrictions

However, the easing does not mean that parties on Mallorca are now fully possible. The dance floors in bars, discos and clubs are still closed. In the pubs, fussy care is taken to ensure that the guests stay seated and adhere to the regulations. The rules of conduct that were introduced before Corona continue to apply to Ballermann. In other words: drinking bouts on the street are taboo. But dancing outside is not specifically prohibited.

Frank Feuser from North Rhine-Westphalia is very happy that the nightlife has slowed down a bit. “Basically,” less is more “applies to me. The playa is definitely more bearable, ”he told the German press agency. That is how Brigitte Brock, also from North Rhine-Westphalia, feels. “It’s all party decelerated. We like it here on the Playa very much, ”she said.

Buder-Gülck sees it a little differently. “The next step must be that clubs and the large beer gardens can reopen. In Germany I experience how well it works with 2G or 3G regulations. Regardless of whether it is open air or in discos: Germany is celebrating again, ”says the singer. “People are still easier to control in pubs than on the streets.”

The easing of the measures was possible because of the flattening corona curve. According to the Spanish Ministry of Health, the seven-day incidence in Mallorca is just under 75 as of Monday, lower than in Germany. dpa
