Celine Dion cancels appearances in Las Vegas until February

Celine Dion has spent many years on the show stage in Las Vegas. Now the Canadian singer was planning a new show, but her health did not play along. The star has to back down.

Las Vegas – Singer Celine Dion (53, “My Heart Will Go On”) has canceled appearances in Las Vegas due to health problems. “Severe and persistent muscle cramps” would prevent the singer from being on stage, it said on her website on Tuesday.

She is being treated by her medical team, but is currently unable to attend rehearsals for the planned show.

She was “heartbroken,” said Dion. Preparations for the show had been going on for eight months. It makes her very sad to disappoint her fans, but now she has to concentrate fully on her health.

The new show was due to start on November 5th at the Resorts World Theater in the casino city of Las Vegas (Nevada US). Over 20 planned performances until the beginning of February have now been canceled. According to the announcement on their website, Dion wants to continue her Courage World Tour as planned on March 9th.

The Canadian star performed regularly in Las Vegas – with some longer interruptions – from 2003 to 2019. In 2007 she stopped after the five-year glitter show “A New Day”, only to return in the spring of 2011. In 2014/15 Dion took a break from her husband René Angélil’s cancer, which she was taking care of. After Angélil died in early 2016, Dion resumed the shows.

In November 2019, the mother of three released her album “Courage”. Dion has sold more than 250 million albums worldwide and is one of the most successful musicians of her generation. dpa
