The children’s vaccine is expected to arrive in Baden-Württemberg on Monday (November 13th). At the same time, many questions arise – an overview of the most important answers.
The decision of the Stiko about the corona vaccination for children was eagerly awaited. As the committee finally announced on Thursday (November 9th), the experts recommend a corona vaccination for children aged five to eleven with previous illnesses and contact with high-risk patients. Even healthy children can be vaccinated at the request of their parents and after medical advice.
“There is no direct indication of a risk of vaccination in this age group, but there is also no sufficiently reliable database to finally assess the safety,” said the virologist Thomas Mertens on Thursday of the German press agency. In order to be able to exclude the risk of rare side effects of the vaccination, more data are needed.
