Interpreting correctly together: “Inspector Nose” is a piece of cake with simple rules – a review.
As the publisher describes the game: You are a brilliant team of investigators and solve every case together. Inspector nose gives the clues, the others evaluate them. Totally simple rules and pure excitement. With a little practice you can become a master detective!
Review by Hunter: The genre of creative guessing games has been booming for some time, and game authors keep creating new and entertaining ways of typing and guessing. Be it the almost classic “Dixit” or the newer games of the year “Just One” or “Pictures” – the series could be continued for a very long time. It is noticeable that this type of play is still very rarely used in children’s games. Here “Inspector Nose” leaps into the breach impressively and combines the cooperative picture guessing with the child-friendly detective topic excellently.
Inspector Nase:
At the beginning five cards with different illustrations are laid out. One child takes on the role of inspector and is the only one who knows the right solution. The inspector then rolls five dice, all of which also show symbols with different objects. The inspector must now select one of the items rolled and place it in the middle as a clue.
All other players can now consult in order to jointly rule out one of the five cards as the wrong solution. If they are correct, the inspector takes a replacement dice, rolls the dice again and gives the next tip. With the fourth tip, the other players still have to decide between two possible cards. If you interpret all the tips correctly one last time, everyone has won together and the next one can be an inspector.
Inspector Nase shows once again which ingredients make a good child’s play. Simple rules, quick setup and enough challenge to keep the young players involved. The level of difficulty is not too high, but the game clearly promotes abstraction and the ability to give other understandable tips. Because just making an absurd figure on the tips and the map you are looking for does not lead to the goal here. The counselors must also be able to understand the tips.
Inspector Nose is also great fun together with parents or grandparents, even if the children of course prefer to be inspectors. As an inexpensive travel game in a small box, Inspector Nose is also suitable for holidays. There is actually nothing to complain about, except that at some point you get the hang of it. The jury of the Children’s Game of the Year 2021 has also put Inspector Nose on their list of recommendations.
