Zülpicher Strasse is the party hotspot at Cologne Carnival. But things should be quieter there in the future. There are seven measures to help.
Cologne – On 11.11. the time has come: the opening of the Cologne Carnival session is celebrated. There will be celebrations again in several places in Cologne. However, one area in particular is repeatedly criticized: Zülpicher Straße. Tens of thousands gather here to party and drink in the streets. Problems such as garbage and aggressive moods keep coming up. But that should be the end of it now. Politicians are calling for several measures to make Zülpicher Strasse safer and less chaotic.

The traditional carnival is supposed to help with this. The plan: The Cologne Carnival Festival Committee and the carnival societies carry out carnival activities in the party hotspot, “which make elements of classic carnival tangible there and change the mood on site.” (jw)
