Company recalls pistachios due to salmonella

Kosebate GmbH has found salmonella in a batch of pistachios that has already been offered for sale. The product is now being recalled. Several federal states are affected.

Sinzheim – Due to salmonella in one batch, Kosebate GmbH (Sinzheim) is recalling pistachios from its own stock.

Affected is the product “Alburj – Halva with pistachios” with the best before date 7/2022, according to a message published on Friday via the official portal “Lebensmittelwarnung.de”. The goods were offered packaged in units of around 400 and 800 grams. Salmonella can cause dangerous diarrhea.

“Kosebate GmbH regrets the incident and apologizes to all customers for the inconvenience,” said the company. The states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, Lower Saxony and Rhineland-Palatinate are affected by the warning.

Salmonella infections, which can be transmitted through food, often lead to gastrointestinal diseases, which often develop with a fever within 48 hours of consuming the contaminated products. These symptoms can be aggravated in children, immunocompromised, and the elderly. Consumers who have consumed these goods and notice symptoms are requested to consult a doctor immediately and advise them to consume the product. dpa
