Concerts and live dances return to the Teatro Colón

With six concerts scheduled: four face-to-face and two digital, June will be the month of music at the Teatro Colón.

In June, the Teatro Colón in Bogotá will reopen its doors to host different live performances, from Astor Piazzolla’s tango to the compositions of the Animal Collective.

Also, there will be an exhibition of contemporary dance with the work I will never die again so lightly, by Saeed Pezeshki (Mexico) and Yovanny Martínez Riaño (Colombia), from the Circuito Liquen company, inspired by a poem by the Polish Wislawa Szymborska, which versa: “I am too close, too close for him to dream of me. I take out my arm that is under his sleeping head. My arm asleep, full of imaginary needles ”. This work investigates the conditions of the body when it is subjected to cancer treatments.

“After a year the Colón will once again receive international artists, we will celebrate the centenary of Astor Piazzolla, and we will have the special participation of the Mexican Saeed Pezeshki, with a work in which we will be able to think about the body, through illness, about the existence, survival. The stage will be a space for legitimate expression that will provide us with critical thinking tools, so necessary at this time, ”says Claudia Del Valle, director of the Teatro Colón.

The musical program for June will begin on the 4th of the month, at 7:30 pm, with a concert by the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, directed by the Frenchman Olivier Grangean, in which compositions by Antonín Dvořák and Adolfo Mejía will be performed. .

For June 20, at 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm, Flora Martínez will present a new musical album with a selection of songs that include boleros, rancheras and her own compositions. The artist will share the stage with the pianist José Reinoso.

On June 24 and 25, at 7:30 pm, the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Argentine Astor Piazzolla will be commemorated, with the presentation of the Astor Piazzolla Quintet. The group will be on stage with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, under the direction of Jorge Mariano Carciofolo.

As for the children’s audience, there will be the concert An Enchanted Forest , in which there will be a musical journey through indigenous ancestral knowledge, thus carrying a message of care for the environment for children. The concert will be on June 27 at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm
