Two new emojis, gender-neutral 'pregnant man' and 'pregnant person' , are among those arriving on smartphones later this year, as confirmed by the Unicode Consortium, the central bank of all emoji. These emojis recognize that 'pregnancy is possible for some transgender men and non-binary people,' says Emojipedia, a voting member of the Unicode Consortium.
All of them, along with 35 other emojis, will be part of version 14.0.
“People of any gender can also be pregnant. Now there are emojis to represent this, ”explains Emojipedia.
For now, Unicode maintains the more conventional 'pregnant woman' emoji that has been around since 2016.
What other emojis will be in the update?
The list also includes a motorcycle tire, slide, disco ball, troll with a club, coral, or low battery emoji.
Although no release dates have been confirmed for emoji on the various mobile operating systems , it is likely that they will be seen on all platforms by June 2022 and for some platforms later this year.
