Corona: According to the study, one in five vacationers does not recover well

Finding distance from everyday life – that’s what many people hope for on their vacation. The corona pandemic makes recovery difficult, as a study shows.

Hamburg – vacation in times of the corona pandemic: every fifth German has not recovered well or not at all this summer. That is the result of the vacation report 2021 of the health insurance company DAK-Gesundheit.

This means that the proportion of vacationers who were unable to relax on vacation remains consistently high compared to the previous year. Women in particular could not have relaxed well, said DAK-Gesundheit in Hamburg. Eight percent of the female respondents complained that they had not found any relaxation at all on vacation. For men it was three percent.

According to the DAK, 19 percent of Germans were unable to recover well during their holidays this year – the proportion was similar in 2020. In 2019 it was only 13 percent. The 30 to 44 year olds (28 percent) are particularly stressed. 60 percent of those questioned who could not recover well did not succeed in gaining distance from everyday life. Failed travel plans also played a major role, and bad weather was also given as a reason.

The report also shows strong regional differences, the DAK said. Almost every second vacationer from Bavaria has recovered very well (48 percent). This is the best value nationwide. North Rhine-Westphalia comes in last: According to the study, only 31 percent of those surveyed felt very well recovered there after their vacation.

According to the information, the DAK vacation report is a representative population survey by Forsa on behalf of DAK-Gesundheit. From July 26th to August 4th, 2021, 1,000 women and men who had already been on vacation this summer were surveyed. dpa
