Corona vaccination obligation: Otherwise, Dreyer fears a “total uprising”

Will there be a corona vaccination? If not, Malu Dreyer sees a “total uprising” coming to Germany.

Cologne – Malu Dreyer, Prime Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, once again called for general compulsory corona vaccination in Germany at “Hart aber fair”. A vaccination obligation serves above all to close “vaccination gaps” and to avoid harsh corona measures in autumn and winter, said Dreyer to moderator Frank Plasberg. If this is not decided, a “total uprising” by society during and after the summer months cannot be ruled out.

The obligation to vaccinate must therefore be debated quickly in the Bundestag. “We’ve been driving around with vaccination buses for months, we’re advertising in seven languages, the vaccination centers are open without appointments. So, we’ve done an awful lot. Maybe you can do more, I’m always open,” said Dreyer in the ARD talk.

Corona vaccination requirement: Dreyer warns of “total uprising”

Nevertheless, the SPD politician must now say: “We are stagnating at one point.” But I still have to say that we are stagnating at one point. There are always only isolated cases of initial vaccinations that are added.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz had announced that a general obligation to vaccinate against the corona virus should apply at the end of February or beginning of March at the latest. However, this is a very unlikely scenario, as the weeks of meetings in the Bundestag and Bundesrat probably prevent this. The traffic light coalition has also announced that it will not make its own vaccination proposal. The MPs should therefore discuss applications across factions.

Lauterbach gives details of possible corona vaccinations in Germany

However, Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach recently emphasized that compulsory vaccination should probably include three corona vaccinations. The measure must be based on this, according to the SPD politician.

But is a general vaccination requirement in Germany even legally possible? A former judge at the Federal Constitutional Court shows the difficulties in the debate. (do)
