This week Correos has launched a collection of stamps baptized with the name of ‘Equality Stamps’ to fight against racism that, unfortunately, is still very present in today’s society. As the company itself has explained on its website, the objective is to raise awareness about inclusion, diversity and equal rights. The new collection of stamps against racism from CorreosThe collection arrives just after one year of the death of George Floyd (May 25, 2020) in the city of Minnesota (United States) for racial abuse. In just a few days, a great wave of protests against racism was generated around the world. ‘Equality Stamps’ consists of four stamps, to which Correos has assigned a value according to color. And this is what has generated the controversy in social networks. The lighter colored stamp is the most expensive (1.60 euros), while the black one is the cheapest (0.70 euros) .In view of the wave of criticism that the company has received on social networks, Correos has said the following: «At the Post Office we do not stand aside from racial discrimination, therefore, in the European Month of Diversity and coinciding with the first anniversary of the murder of George Floyd, we launched a collection of stamps that reflects an unjust and painful reality that millions of people face every day. The darker the color of the stamp, the less value it will have, thus reflecting an unfair and painful reality that should not exist. ”However, it has not been enough to stop criticism and memes on social networks. Judging by what users say, it seems that Correos’ anti-racism stamp campaign has not had much of the desired effect.Such has been the stir that has been formed that some users have even doubted that it is a false news. The aim is to give a voice and raise awareness about racial diversity and equal rights. This is not the first controversial campaign by Correos. Let us remember how in 2020 he launched a campaign in favor of the rights of the LGTBI collective, and stamps, mailboxes and vans were stained in colors.
