Crowds in India mourn the death of a decades-old crocodile. “Babiya” “appeared” out of nowhere in 1945, lived strictly vegetarian – and was almost 80 years old. Read the whole story here:

Babiya hasn’t been with us for a while. And in India – more specifically around the Hindu temple of Anantha-Padmanabha-Swamy in the southern Indian state of Kerala – this loss is greatly mourned. Because Babiya was “just” a crocodile – but definitely not an ordinary one. The reptile lived in a pond around the temple and was extraordinary in many ways.
LUDWIGSHAFEN24 has the story of the Indian “veggie crocodile” Baiya, which appeared out of “nowhere” a good 80 years ago.

It is said that it is unclear how long Babiya lived at the temple. But of course there are theories. (mko)
