Crown Princess Victoria in mourning: "A person who meant a lot to me"

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden mourns the loss of a loved one and cherished friend. Her pain at the loss is great.

Stockholm – Victoria of Sweden (44) suffered a severe blow of fate a few days ago. Emerich Roth, a longtime friend of the Crown Princess, has died at the age of 97. In memory of him, Victoria shared moving words*.

Alongside her husband Prince Daniel (48), Crown Princess Victoria completed one of her first public appointments after surviving the corona disease. As part of Holocaust Remembrance Day, which has been celebrated worldwide on January 27 since 2005, the couple took part in a special scholarship award ceremony in Stockholm. Every year, the Swedish Micael Binderfeld Foundation to commemorate the Holocaust awards a grant to people who pass on knowledge about the Holocaust and thus commemorate the many victims of National Socialism.

In an emotional speech, Crown Princess Victoria not only congratulated this year’s recipient Anna Florén (39), the mother of two also said goodbye to her confidante Emerich Roth. The Holocaust survivor died on January 22, his family confirmed to Dagens Nyheter. Right at the beginning of her speech, Victoria made it clear what a big gap he leaves behind: “A person who meant a lot to me and many others passed away a few days ago. Emerich Roth was one of the last survivors of the Holocaust in Sweden. Many of us here, yes, many in our country, share deep gratitude for his courage, commitment and tireless work.” *24royal.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
