Daniel Craig has not yet received an Oscar or a Golden Globe in Hollywood. Now the actor at least has a place on Hollywood Boulevard and is happy about it.
Los Angeles – James Bond actor Daniel Craig (53) has unveiled a star plaque with his name on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame” – and is beaming on his knees.
It makes him very happy to be surrounded by so many industry legends on the sidewalk, the British star told cheering fans and reporters. According to the organizers, Craig received the 2704th plaque on the tourist strip in the heart of Hollywood – with the appropriate address Hollywood Boulevard number 7007.
Under the sign of James Bond
Craig’s star is right next to that of Bond actor Roger Moore. David Niven and Pierce Brosnan, who once also slipped into the famous agent role, have also been immortalized on the boulevard.
The actor joked that his speech would be “short and sweet”, just as he was himself. But he was really “incredibly touched” by this award, assured Craig in his two-minute speech. Above all, the British star thanked his Bond team. The ceremony coincided with the premiere of the 25th film about the elite agent. “No Time to Die”, in which Craig appears for the fifth and final time as 007, opens in US theaters this weekend.
Long-time Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson as well as Oscar winner Rami Malek (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) attended the ceremony as guest speakers. In “No Time to Die” Malek plays the villain Safin. Craig was an incredibly warm person who would be very empathetic to the people around him, raved Malek. On the first day of shooting, Craig approached him immediately and reassured him that everything would be okay. His fellow actor was just like James Bond, “old school and first class,” said Malek. He couldn’t wait to see Craig in his next roles.
After the end of Bond, Craig moves on quickly. He has already confirmed the role of private detective Benoit Blanc in the sequel to the crime comedy “Knives Out”. In the coming year he also wants to return to New York’s Broadway in a production of “Macbeth”.
Craig, who played in very different roles in films such as “Cowboys & Aliens”, “Verblendung”, “Road to Perdition” and “Munich”, has been married to his colleague Rachel Weisz since 2011.
