Did you buy Skittles or Life Savers? Mars recalls batches due to possible presence of metal strands

Mars Wrigley Mexico voluntarily recalled lots of its Skittles and Lifeguard brands due to the possible presence of a very thin metal strand embedded in the gummies or loose within the bag. The company reiterated that, so far, there has been no reported incident in this regard.

The company detailed that the products were manufactured by a third party and distributed by Mars Wrigley in the United States, Canada and Mexico . Products subject to this voluntary recall in Mexico include only Skittles Gummies and Life Savers Gummies.

“Mars Wrigley Mexico is already in contact with the stores to withdraw the products involved from the points of sale. If consumers have purchased an item that they believe is one of those mentioned, they should contact the company and not consume the product,” Mars said in the statement, adding a contact phone number.

Mars Wrigley Mexico specified that on the back of the packaging, just below the expiration date, there is a 10-digit manufacturing code, the first three digits of this code indicate the product involved.
