A Europe-wide search has been carried out for a man suspected of having killed a woman near Hanover in September. An arrest was made in Sweden.
Hanover – After the disappearance of a 56-year-old near Hanover, the police in Sweden arrested an internationally wanted suspect. The 54-year-old from Warburg in East Westphalia is suspected of having killed the woman from Burgwedel on the night of September 11th, the public prosecutor’s office and police in Hanover and the State Criminal Police Office in Lower Saxony announced on Wednesday. The suspected violent criminal had been searched for across Europe.
So far, there has been no trace of the woman who lived on Lake Würmsee in the Hanover region, it said. The evidence at the place of residence had indicated a violent crime. According to the public prosecutor, the investigators are still looking for the 56-year-old and are asking for witnesses. According to the previous investigations, the suspect is said to have camped in the forest or in remote places. dpa
