Prince Andrew’s lawyers had tried by all means to prevent a civil action from being served. Now the receipt has been officially confirmed.
London / New York – The dispute over the service of a civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew (61) for sexual abuse is over. The US lawyers of the second eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II (95) confirmed the receipt of the court documents on Saturday night.
Before that, they had tried by all means to prevent the papers from being delivered. As reported by the British media, Andrew’s lawyers now have until the end of October, around two weeks longer, to respond to the claim for damages in return for the confirmation of receipt.
The American Virginia Giuffre accuses the Royal of having sexually abused her several times over 20 years ago as a 17-year-old. The ninth of the British line of succession strictly denies the allegations.
The case is linked to the abuse scandal involving the US entrepreneur Jeffrey Epstein, who has now died. Andrew stayed overnight at Epstein’s several times. Together with his ex-partner Ghislaine Maxwell, he is said to have brought dozens of girls and young women into his addiction and sexually abused and fed other men for years. dpa
