Using ultrasound to measure blood flow to the clitoris, Omer Faruk Karatas and colleagues from the University of Ankara (Turkey) concluded that female athletes , compared to sedentary women, have greater blood flow to the clitoris -which improves orgasm- and better sexual function. "For women, being physically fit means that sexual activity is better," the authors concluded in the Journal of Sexual Medicine published last year.
On the other hand, in a study with 31,000 men over fifty years of age, researchers from Harvard University (USA) showed that doing aerobic exercise (for example, walking briskly or running) between 3 and 5 hours per week reduces by 30% risk of erectile dysfunction and increases the duration of the erection.
