Don’t you also miss the corona-free small talk? The column.
The neighboring child wanted to know: “How long will Corona last?”
Good question. Next question.
Would it really help us if we knew the answer? – The fatal thing about the Greek alphabet is that after “Delta” there are a whole lot of letters, and even if each of them does not denote a SARS-Cov-2 variant, there is still plenty of room to go to “Omega”.
And yet it would probably be helpful if we had at least a rough idea of where we are. When the last great plague in Europe was over, people held orgies across the board. We’re not there yet. I would have noticed. Sometimes I wonder how people knew when the time was right for orgies. How did they find out? Try and error, with the courage of desperation? Or was that determined by the RKI at the time? “So, Pest is done now. Orgies from Monday. Everyone participate! “
I don’t know if I personally wanted that, but I would indulge anyone who’s up for it. And as a signal of social change, I would find it extremely beautiful. Because it is clear and vital. “Look, honey, orgies everywhere, Corona must be around!”
Finally there would be other topics of conversation: “Have you heard? There should be the greatest orgies in Stuttgart. ”-“ Don’t tell nonsense, maybe in Munich or Berlin, in Frankfurt as far as I’m concerned, but never in my life in Stuttgart, just think of the Pietkong around the city! ”I would like to have a conversation like that me forever.
And once seriously asked: When was the last time we had a long, profound and beautiful conversation that wasn’t about “Corona”? Not even on the edge? Or in which we didn’t desperately try not to mention the “big C.”?
The weather remains as a topic of conversation. As always. Yawn The author Eva Karl Faltermeier said everything in a tweet: “2021 is like 2020 – only with rain.” And when I have to hear the old man’s sentence “but it’s good for nature” again, I rethink my concept of non-violence. How inconsiderate can you be in conversation, please? “It’s just good for nature.”
“Shall I tell you what would be really good for nature? Less Julia Klöckner, that would be good for nature! And at least we did that. But we are still a long way from speed limits, meat waiver and the ban on short-haul flights, just to mention a few things that would be really good for nature. “
It’s no longer just a relaxed conversation. Where has the serenity gone in the culture of conversation? The ghost? The verve? Only the topic of “vaccination” seems to be compatible with Smalltalk. “Have you been vaccinated?” Is the new “How are you?” Who would have thought that a normal chat would sound like this? “Have you been vaccinated?” – “Yes.” – “With what?”
The reactions to the respective vaccines are very interesting, by the way, the facial expression of the person you are talking to when you answer “Astra Zeneca”, the hardly concealed envy at the mention of an early “Biontech / Pfizer” syringe … “My nicest side effect.”
But a good conversation takes wit and wit. I miss sentences like: “I won’t get vaccinated until we have approved Sputnik V” or: “I don’t trust Pfizer. My Viagra is from them … and a complete disappointment! And now, of all times, when so many orgies are supposed to take place! “
Most of all, however, I miss good questions. Why have we only now started to bake our own bread? Why did it take so long before we banned the cars from the city centers so that the pubs could put tables and chairs in the parking lots? No pandemic would have been necessary for this, we could have done everything before Corona.
But the crucial question is another: Can we still do it afterwards? And where the fuck are the orgies?
