Entrepreneurs improve their sales prospects for this year

Entrepreneurs in Mexico are beginning to see positive results after the most critical phase of the COVID-19 contingency. 52% of them still register lower sales than they had prior to the isolation measures, but for 33% they have already risen to levels higher than those observed before the pandemic, according to the survey ‘Perception thermometer of the entrepreneurial ecosystem : Perspectives 2021 ‘, prepared by Capital Invent.

Half consider that they will close the year with a positive or very positive trend in their company. While 33% consider that it will remain the same as in recent months and another 16% are pessimistic.

The challenge of increasing sales is the main one that entrepreneurs have had to overcome with the contingency, 79% of entrepreneurs consulted agree. Behind it are capital raising, better marketing strategies, product development, maintaining human capital and work culture.

With the lessons learned in terms of financial planning and last minute changes during 2020, 29% of entrepreneurs consider making a monthly budget for their business next year, 26% quarterly, 19% annually, and 6% quarterly. However, 19% still do not have a clear plan to carry it out.

58% of those surveyed believe that the budget they plan will have a better scenario next year. 27% consider a scenario very similar to 2020 and only 14% foresee it in a negative way compared to what has been experienced in recent months.

Even hiring within entrepreneurial businesses will have a better scenario, since 51% of those interviewed consider increasing their work team and only 12% have in mind to lay off staff. In addition, in order to safeguard the health of personnel, more than 70% will maintain at least half of their operations remotely in the coming months.

With the new work models, 42% say they no longer have physical offices, 17% have smaller spaces, 37% keep them at the same or low cost and 7% opt for coworking.
