According to a recent survey by the Pew Research Center’s American Life Project, Facebook users are more confident, have more close friends, and are more politically engaged .
From a survey of 2,255 adults, the survey reveals that Facebook users are 43 percent more likely than other Internet users and three times more likely than non-Internet users to feel that most people can be trusted . Additionally, those who use Facebook multiple times a day have an average of 9% more close links in their overall social life than other Internet users. And a Facebook user is 2.5 times more likely to attend a political rally or meeting than other web users and users of other social platforms, according to the survey.
According to Keith Hampton, co-author of the report, far from damaging user relationships, as we tend to think, social networks like Facebook push people to have “more close relationships and get involved in civil and political activities.”
The study also reveals that on Facebook, on an average day, 15% of users update their own status, 22% comment on “post” or the status of others, 20% comment on the photos of others, 26% ” they like “the content of other users and 10% send a private message to a friend.
