A minibus in eastern Turkey with migrants overturned near the Iranian border and caught fire. Quite a few people were killed and others injured.
Istanbul – At least 11 migrants and one other person were killed in a minibus accident in eastern Turkey.
The minibus overturned on Sunday in the province of Van near the Iranian border and caught fire, reported the state news agency Anadolu, citing the provincial governor. 26 migrants were also injured. Your nationality was initially unclear.
The Van Province borders on Iran. From there, migrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran come to Turkey again and again. Often they are brought into large cities like Istanbul by smugglers. In July last year, at least 60 migrants drowned when their boat sank in Lake Van. dpa
