Federal President congratulates Udo Lindenberg

Frank-Walter Steinmeier honors the German rocker not only as a successful musician. He also describes him as a person with a clear demeanor. He wrote that to the Hamburg artist in his congratulations.

Berlin (AP) – Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier congratulated rock musician Udo Lindenberg on his 75th birthday on Monday (May 17th).

“My best wishes to a musician legend. Hits like “Cello”, “Sonderzug nach Pankow” or “Hinterm Horizont’s geht’s weiter” influenced many people more than many school lessons, “Steinmeier wrote to the artist, as the Federal President’s Office announced on Sunday.

“My good wishes also go to a person with an attitude, who has always remained true to his convictions, who has never lost his belief in the good in people, in the changeability of the world, in love and respect for others.” Great civil society commitment, he gives everyone a role model. The rights of children are particularly important to him.

“You have been committed to Unicef for many years, helping to alleviate the suffering of many girls and boys in crisis areas and to give them a fairer and more peaceful future,” Steinmeier praised the artist. “I would like to thank you very much for this today.”
