The first all-Black superhero film, Black Panther, was a box office hit in 2018. The new trailer still doesn’t answer an important question.
Berlin – The first trailer for the sequel to the Marvel blockbuster “Black Panther” leaves open who will slip into the futuristic superhero costume after the death of leading actor Chadwick Boseman.
The Black Panther can only be seen briefly at the very end of the two-minute clip. The camera shows him from behind, extending his claws. A date for the release of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” has been announced: The film is scheduled to hit theaters on November 11, 2022. Boseman can be seen on a mural in the trailer.
Chadwick Boseman died of cancer in 2020, but director Ryan Coogler and Marvel Studio are sticking with a sequel featuring many of the actors from the original film. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever wrapped filming in March. From the previous cast, stars such as Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira and Letitia Wright are said to be back on board. British Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya is reportedly absent.
The first part starring Boseman as the prince T’Challa in the fictional, technologically advanced African state of Wakanda was a big box office hit in 2018. The science fiction superhero film from the Marvel cosmos was cast almost exclusively with black actors. dpa
